Rebecca Jean

2nd Grade Lead Teacher

Hello my name is Rebecca Jean, but you can call me Ms. Jean! I am brand new to Southern California, relocated from the Bay Area.

My love for teaching started at my Alma Mater, Chico State. Go Wildcats! My formal teaching journey began in East Oakland in the public-charter world, teaching 3rd grade. This is where I also started learning Spanish (I am still working on my fluency). After two years, I moved to San Leandro and began teaching the upper grades at a public school. I also enjoyed coaching the Washington Wildcat Cheer team, getting a Girls on the Run team started, and making sure the Talent Show took place each year. As much as I love the Bay Area, I am ready for a new adventure. Grateful to call CWC Mar Vista my new home and family.

My teaching style is structured around the Love and Logic principles. My classroom functions with a strong sense of family, community, trust, and all things KIND. It is important to me that my classroom always remains a stable place for kids to feel comfortable, safe, and most importantly… to call home. I work extremely hard to create a rigorous , yet approachable curriculum and innovative assignments and lessons.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me dog walking for WAG, at a Giant’s baseball game, photographing and enjoying small moments, learning a new baking recipe in the kitchen,  enjoying a big bowl of veggie ramen at Daikokuya, working on my Spanish, planning my next adventure, or hanging out with my grandmother in Eugene, Oregon.

Look forward to meeting my new CWC family!
