Middle School Support
I am so excited to join the 6th-grade team at CWC Mar Vista. Before taking time off to raise my daughters, I taught 11th and 12th grade English at Locke High School in LAUSD (Go Saints!), where I was the English department co-chair and participated in college-bound mentoring programs for my 12th-grade students. While teaching, I was honored with a resolution passed by the City of Los Angeles recognizing my work in creating a unit of study for my seniors which analyzed themes surrounding existentialism in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. I was chosen to present this unit at the statewide CATE (California Association of Teachers of English) conference as a lecture about teaching high thinking to low readers. Since returning to the education world, I have earned my substitute teaching credential so that I can be more flexible across grades and subjects here at CWCMV.
I earned my B.A. in English with minors in Spanish and music, and my M.A. in Education from Whittier College. Go, Poets!
