John Resendez

Assistant Principal - Middle School

Hello CWC Mar Vista family.  My name is John Resendez and I am so incredibly excited to be joining this community as your new Assistant Principal.  This year will mark my nineteenth year as an educator.  This time includes thirteen years as a teacher with LAUSD and Larchmont Charter and six years as an administrator with Larchmont Charter and the Inner City Education Foundation.  These experiences have helped me develop a clear vision of how quality education looks, sounds, and feels.  I believe that learning is most meaningful when it is placed back into the hands of the learner and constructed and guided by dynamic teachers.  I believe that quality education should not only advance content in a meaningful way but should also promote the social emotional growth of everyone involved.  I believe that education, when done with thoughtfulness and purpose, can be a tremendous agent of social change.

With these beliefs providing context for how I approach this opportunity, one can certainly understand why the mission and philosophy of CWC speak so deeply to me as an educator.  We have before us such a profound opportunity to take the foundation that has been laid by all of those who have poured their hearts into the creation of this school and develop an experience that grows and changes as our students and community continue to evolve.  I look forward to being a part of this process and working with everyone to construct an experience that we can all feel proud of.  Our children deserve the very best and I have no doubt that, together, we will create that for them.
