Kindergarten Lead Teacher
Hello CWC MV family! For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Allison Near (formerly Niccum). I am thrilled to return this year, now as a lead teacher!
This past year, I was a 1st grade TA. I enjoyed connecting with students, and guiding them through their academic and social needs. It was a rewarding and exciting year filled with unexpected changes. I am so impressed by the resilience our students, families, and faculty have shown over the past few months.
I recently completed the teaching credential program at Antioch University. Becoming an educator has always been a dream of mine. I love being around children and feel honored to help shape future generations. I strive to create a supportive class culture that nurtures learning in a positive, fun environment. I believe by having a balance of support and high expectations, students are able to achieve their greatest potential. Each student brings their own unique perspective into the classroom. I want my students to be proud of their differences and see to themselves represented in the world.
I am originally from Pacific Grove, CA. Prior to working in education, I received my undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University. After college, I worked in the entertainment industry for a number of years, doing marketing for both film and television. I then decided it was time to go back to school in order to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. In my free time, I enjoy activities such as yoga, listening to music, watching movies, spending time with my husband and our dog.
I look forward to getting to know more of you and am grateful to continue working within this incredible community this upcoming year!
