Karen Ogbugbulu - Lead Teacher - Kindergarten

Karen is excited to join the CWCMV team. Originally from Texas, born from Nigerian parents, Karen has taught for the past seven years in all three coasts. Karen began her career teaching Art and Spanish to Kindergarten scholars for Kipp Houston Public Schools. She then migrated to be a founding lead teacher for çin Newark, New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she received her master teacher training in K-4 guided reading. It was there that she found a deeper passion for literacy intervention and reading readiness. She later seized an opportunity in San Jose California to teach second grade for Rocketship Education. While in San Jose California, she became an instructional coach and mentor for San Jose State University Teacher Credentialing program, and grade level department chair for second grade. Karen continually believes in closing the achievement gap, pushing students to be their best selves academically and socially. When not teaching she is into photography blogging, playing her guitar, art, fashion and traveling.
