Alexi Elias - Lead Teacher - 2nd Grade

Alexi is delighted to be joining a school with such innovating teaching practices.  Born in New York, Alexi attended college in Florida where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  With a background in illustration and passion for literature, she worked with the students in Miami on several educational and engaging reading, writing, and art projects.   It was during this time that she decided she wanted to pursue a career that would inspire our youth.   Alexi’s teaching career began in fifth grade at an environmental magnet school in Jensen Beach, Florida.  One year later she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a lead literacy coach for a tutoring company in Beverly Hills where she expanded on her skills in teaching reading foundational skills with Kindergarten through third grade students.  Soon after, Alexi taught second grade in public and private schools, and was excited to continue working in the emergent and developing literacy stages.  Alexi takes pleasure in incorporating fun, creative lessons in her classroom that inspire her students to look at the world around them in dynamic ways.   Alexi believes that all children are capable of success and every child has something special to contribute to the world.  She is currently working on her art teaching credential and one day she and her husband hope to write and illustrate their own children’s book series. Her favorite children’s authors are Roald Dahl and Mem Fox.  When Alexi isn’t teaching she enjoys going to the beach, library, painting, and spending time with her husband.
