Dear CWCLA Parents,
Hope you are having a great summer! I am writing because the CWCLA board is seeking to expand and add three parent board members from our collective community. The CWCLA board is the governing board over the Los Angeles region including CWCH, CWCSL and now CWCMV and will also govern the future middle school(s) and hopefully high school(s). The board has the fiduciary responsibility meaning that it represents the public, the taxpayers, overseeing that the organization is fulfilling its mission and complying with the law. Its primary responsibilities include ensuring fidelity to the mission, setting the vision, strategic planning, hiring, supporting and evaluating the Executive Director, adopting the budget and ensuring long term sustainability of the organization. The board is specifically seeking individuals with expertise in fundraising, capital campaigns/fundraising, facilities and communication. Interested parents are encouraged to submit the following nomination paperwork:
- Prospective Board Member Questionnaire
- Signed Board Member Responsibility document
- Resume/CV and letter of interest
The above needs to be submitted by end of day 9/20/13 electronically, by mail or in person to Executive Director, Amy Held at email@example.com or 5620 DeLongpre LA, CA 90028. There will then be interviews with a board nomination/selection committee and qualifying nominees (mission aligned with skills the board is seeking) will then participate on a panel at a community forum (school community members will be invited to rank candidates following this panel). The board nomination/selection committee will review the results of the nomination paperwork, interview and school community rankings and make a recommendation to the board for confirmation of candidates at its regular October board meeting 10/23/13 at 6pm.
Please feel free to notify Amy Held or Josh McLaughlin with any questions regarding the process and thanks in advance to all those who come forward to serve in this important role to support and help lead our region and our schools.
